ParentDocket is a co-parenting record-keeping service: certified messaging, custody calendars, and shared expense tracking between two linked parents. Because the product's core value is a permanent, tamper-evident record, our retention model differs from typical apps — please read the "Your record is permanent" section carefully.
Account information (name, email, password hash), the content you and your linked co-parent create (messages, calendar entries, expenses, receipts, documents, journal entries), payment details processed by Stripe (we never store full card numbers), and basic technical logs (IP address, device type) for security and abuse prevention.
Messages sent between linked co-parents are written to an append-only record protected by a cryptographic hash chain. Sent messages cannot be edited or deleted — by you, your co-parent, or ParentDocket support. This is the product working as designed: a record that can be relied upon in legal proceedings must not be alterable after the fact. Do not send content you are unwilling to have on a permanent record. If you close your account, your authentication credentials and payment data are removed, but message records shared with a linked co-parent are retained, because the other parent retains rights to the shared record.
To provide the service, process subscriptions, send transactional email (receipts, link invitations, security notices), and protect the platform from abuse. Optional AI features (tone check, custody order parsing) send the specific text or document you submit to our AI processing provider solely to return the result to you; this content is not used to train models.
Your messages are visible to your linked co-parent — that is the product. Professionals (such as an attorney or guardian ad litem) can view a record only when both parents consent. We share data with service providers strictly to operate the platform (Stripe for payments, email delivery, AI processing for optional features) and when required by law, including valid court orders — which, given the product's purpose, we expect and design for. We do not sell personal information.
ParentDocket accounts are for adults (18+). The service stores information about children (schedules, expenses, shared notes) that their parents choose to record; it is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Message integrity is protected by a SHA-256 hash chain with database-level append-only enforcement. Access to production systems is restricted and logged.
You may access and export your data at any time (the Certified Export is available in-app), correct your account information, and close your account. Depending on your jurisdiction (including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights — contact us and we will honor them, subject to the shared-record retention described above, which we maintain under legitimate interest in the integrity of records relied upon by both parents and by courts.
